Young Victims of Sexual Violence Information

A site designed to help young people navigate the processes of going to court, and make information accessible.

We are proud to have launched a new website aimed at young people (Children and Teenagers) who are victims of sexual violence. The new website sets to demystify the court process so that our Tamariki can be reassured about the court process.

The website needed to be designed, built, and ready for launch in just three weeks, thus we had a very intensive, participatory collaboration with the client where we included onsite court visits, meeting with the team who work with young victims on a day to basis for what is a very sensitive issue.

What we did

We designed a site tailored especially for both children and teens which was colourful, with large fonts, short paragraphs, and pictures and diagrams in order to maximise the accessibility of the content.

"We appreciated your approach which was an excellent mix of offering ideas and listening to what we wanted.  It felt like a partnership."

Client feedback

We produced videos to summarise the information in a more appealing format that would be appreciated by todays TikTok audience. We wrote the script, created storyboards and filmed on location at the Wellington District Court. A fully animated video was also produced for the younger viewers.

Once completed we took the website through user testing, observing how young people used the new site to achieve a set of tasks, validating the information architecture, and ensuring that the site left them reassured about the process.

Finally we organised the website to be translated into multiple languages, to remove as many barriers as possible for our Tamariki and Rangatahi.
